Giraffes and hippopotomi and the clap

Vonnegut on The Daily Show back in 2005. Not that it’s any of my business, but I’ve always been a little disappointed that Vonnegut became religious towards the end of his life. He discusses it briefly in this interview:

Your subject for this week is evolution, and my training is scientific. But I do feel that evolution is being controlled by some sort of divine engineer. I can’t help thinking that. This engineer knows exactly what he or she is doing, and why, and where evolution is headed. That’s why we’ve got giraffes and hippopotomi and the clap.
